2017 1204 shell fun run

Representatives of Shell's Puget Sound Refinery and Anacortes Schools Foundation presented a check for $5,000 to Island View Elementary School and Anacortes School District representatives at a school assembly on Dec. 1.

The funds were earned by Island View students who had the largest turnout in last September's Shell Fun Run, cosponsored by the ASF. Shell had promised the check as an incentive for school kids to get fit and participate in the event at Washington Park.

Nearly 400 runners participated in the Fun Run, which raised over $42,000 to benefit Anacortes school programs.
