The Anacortes/San Juan Islands ferry route resumes its regular Summer 2017 schedule on Saturday. Ferry system to accept reservations on Thursday.

A series of boat moves and a vessel repair will bring five boats back to the route on Saturday, July 29, restoring it to full capacity. Passengers can begin making vehicle reservations for this weekend and beyond at 7 a.m. on Thursday, July 27. Service was reduced on Wednesday, July 19, due to vessel break down and the lack of an available backup.

“We’re happy to be able to return things back to normal for everyone who relies on us to get back and forth between Anacortes and the San Juan Islands,” said Elizabeth Kosa, chief of staff for Washington State Ferries. “We know the adjusted schedule has been difficult for residents, businesses and tourists and want to thank them for their patience.”

The four-ferry emergency schedule will remain in place through Friday, July 28. Customers with existing reservations will get priority on a first come, first served basis and are encouraged to arrive at least an hour before their desired sailing. Customers without a reservation can still ride standby and should plan on arriving at least two hours ahead of their sailing.

Additional Orcas sailing added for Friday

There will be an extra unscheduled sailing from Anacortes to Orcas Island at 8:50 p.m. on Friday, July 28. The supplemental sailing is expected to help interisland travel.

Washington State Ferries, a division of the Washington State Department of Transportation, is the largest ferry system in the U.S. and safely and efficiently carries 24 million people a year through some of the most majestic scenery in the world.
