Summer Artwalk 2017

Something new is happening in downtown Anacortes this Friday. In the spirit of bringing the community together, two local events, Open Streets and First Friday Artwalks, are joining forces to create a “Street Plaza” setting on Commercial Avenue between 4th Street and 6th Street.

The plan is to open Commercial Avenue to foot traffic only for an evening of fun starting with the First Friday Artwalk on June 2, sponsored in part by the Chamber of Commerce.

You will find more than a dozen merchants open late because they are participating in the artwalk.

The area will be closed to traffic from 6pm – 9pm to encourage participants linger longer at the First Friday Artwalk event.

People will be able to shop late with merchants, dine and socialize in an outdoor setting and listen to live music. Music will be set up in the center of the 5th Street intersection to provide an opportunity to enjoy the talent of local musicians. Restaurants in the “Street Plaza” area will be offering special sidewalk seating during the event.

Participating merchants in the “Street Plaza” zone include Scott Milo Gallery, Adrift, Gere A Deli, El Jinete, Johnny Picasso’s, The Majestic Inn and Spa, A-Town Bistro, Frida’s Gourmet Restaurant, The Brown Lantern and Pita J’s.

This event will be held three times this summer on June 2, July 7 and September 1. August is the Anacortes Arts Festival so the streets will already be filled with art, music and food!

Join Anacortes in celebrating art, fine meals and local music in a “Street Plaza” setting.
