City Council member John Archibald on Tuesday announced his resignation from the Council, citing a very busy schedule and a desire to focus more on his business, Johnny Picasso’s.

Archibald has been on the City Council for less than four years. Not quite a full term. His resignation is effective April 30.

He said the decision to resign was “a hard decision to make.” He said he really wants to continue to be part of the city and he said he will continue to be active in city government.

But, he said he has too many things going on at the moment. He said his personal and business commitments make more sense to him at the moment. And, he said, he feels it is time to take his business to, "the next level."

He said he chose this time because he wanted to be ahead of filing deadlines for City Council which open next month. Filing week is May 15-19 for local races, with a primary set for August 1.
