Mayor Laurie Gere thanked outgoing Police Chief Bonnie Bowers for her service, presented her with a certificate of recognition. Bowers, in turn, honored her husband of 33 years.

“My cover officer, my backup, my soulmate, mylove, and my best friend, has been there for me. Thank you, honey, I love you," Bowers said of her husband Bud, in front of a crowded City Council chambers on Monday night.

A public reception was held following the City Council meeting.

Bowers has been Police Chief since 2008. She is replaced by John Small.
