The School Board has approved the concept for the newly reconstructed Anacortes High School, a design concept from Hutteball & Oremus Architecture for the school district.
Next up is School Board review on Sept. 24 of the concept for Rice Field.
The renovation project is expected to cost $89.8 million, using $86.9 million bond approved by voters earlier this year, as well as a $1 million donation from the Hendricks family, plus an expected $1.9 million in state matching funds.
Work includes 60 percent new construction and 40 percent renovation. Most of the funding, about $57 million, is for new classrooms, a commons area and library being built on War Memorial Field. Brodniak Hall and music room upgrades will add around $10.6 million. The AHS gym renovation would cost about $11 million. Rice Field upgrades would come in around $9.9 million.
