2015 0707 bridges

Washington Department of Transportation says paving is complete on the SR 20 Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges two nights early! The remaining two nighttime full closures are canceled.

The remaining work can be done with single lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. each of the next two nights, so that’s now our plan.

Lakeside Industries put in a massive effort to complete the work as quickly as possible while still maintaining high quality work. They had more than 50 people on the project. Tuesday night Lakeside Industries finished paving the bridges and reopened them at about 3:30 a.m.

In three nights, the contractor crews removed the old asphalt, checked the condition of the exposed concrete on the bridge decks, evaluated bridge expansion joints and repaved the bridges.

Using single lane closures the next two nights, the contractor crews will finish sealing the expansion joints to keep out dirt and moisture. Flaggers will control traffic through the work zone.
