Fire crews from Anacortes, joined by state Department of Natural Resources and fire districts 11 and 13, put out a small brush fire above highway 20, just west of Sharpes Corner Monday afternoon.
Anacortes Fire Marshall Jack Kennedy said the fire, about 100 feet square, was “a bit of a challenge” for firefighters to get to. It was up a steep cliff face, near power lines.
Kennedy said the fire was put out in a little over an hour. Once the fire was out, a crew from Department of Natural Resources did some final cleanup.
Kennedy said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
