The combined event started off with the 5k Anne Jackson Race, in honor of the Skagtr County Sheriff's Deputy who was killed along with 5 others during a shooting spree in Alger in 2008. The proceeds from the race go to SAIN, Skagit Animals in Need, which helps support negliected and abused horses.

The Penguins of Anacortes picked up the best costume prize ahead of the Polar Plunge.

The Plolar Plunge benefitted Special Olympics. The two events together raised over $10,000.
