2015 0303 energy check

Puget Sound Energy delivered a check for $51,275 to the City Council on Monday night because the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant has managed a major cuts in electricity consumption.

Bob Stolarski (on the far right in the photo), PSE’s Director of Energy Efficiency, said the city had achieved what he termed “truly remarkable” savings. He said energy conservation helps reduce electric rates over the long term.

City Public Works Director Fred Buckenmeyer said the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant has managed a 46 percent reduction in energy consumption over the past year, resulting in savings of between $85,000 and $100,000 to the city.
