As part of the City’s sanitary sewer management program, the City of Anacortes Public Works Department is moving forward with a project to provide for the replacement of several sanitary sewer conveyance lines in the city.

The include the municipal right-of-way along Oakes Avenue from Baltimore Avenue to Florida Avenue, and from the alley entrance at the east side of Commercial Avenue between 30th Street and 31st Street to the east side of R-Avenue.

  • Construction has started and will be completed on approximately March 11, 2015, mid-block between 30TH Street and 31ST Street from the alley entrance at the east side of Commercial Avenue in the alley, crossing Q-Avenue, then through the utility easement under Ebb Tide Apartments, and across R-Avenue.
  • R-Avenue northbound will be closed from March 2 through March 11.
  • Construction is expected to begin on March 9, 2015, and be completed on approximately March 17, 2015 along Oakes Avenue from Baltimore Avenue to Florida Avenue.

Detours around this project may be in place at times, and there may be flagging, lane closures, and slower than normal traffic speeds during construction. Construction will typically be from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday.
