Another change at the Port of Anacortes as Port Commissioners wipe out the job of Deputy Executive Director of the Port, Chris Johnson, just a month after forcing Bob Hyde to resign from the top job.
Port Commissioners eliminated Johnson’s job during a meeting on Thursday night. The Commission authorized interim Port Executive Director John Hachey to negotiate and execute a severance agreement with Johnson.
A statement from the Port delivered to us on Sunday says:
"During the Port of Anacortes Commission meeting on December 4th following an executive session, Commissioners authorized interim Executive Director John Hachey to negotiate and execute a severance agreement for former Deputy Executive Director Chris Johnson. The position of Deputy Director has been eliminated during the recent reorganization. Chris Johnson gave valuable support to the organization during a time of change under former Executive Director Hyde.
Other Departments have also been condensed and redirected reporting."
The Skagit Valley Herald reported it had a copy of an email sent by Johnson that said, I will miss my associations and working with each of you while at the port.”
Updated on Sunday, Dec. 7 to reflect statement from the Port.
