Schoolkids go back to school in a few days and the Anacortes School District and the Salvation Army are sponsoring a Ready-to-Learn fair this Saturday.

The 14th annual back-to-school fair is open to families with children and teens who could use assistance with back-to-school supplies. It is set for Saturday, August 23, 9:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. at the Middle School (corner of M Ave. & 22nd St.).

Parents & legal guardians: (Grades K-8): You must accompany your child/children at the Fair. Please bring your picture ID with you to register. If you aren’t able to attend, please call the Salvation Army at 293-6682 to make other arrangements.

Anacortes High School students (Grades 9-12) may opt to pick up backpacks and school supplies at the AHS Counseling Center beginning Monday, Aug. 25. Please bring your ASB student ID with you if you attend the Fair on August 23.

Also available at the Fair: backpacks, good-condition used clothing; books; haircuts (must have clean, washed hair); hygiene products, and more. Agencies serving youth & families will also be on site with valuable resources and information.

The Anacortes Chapter of the Salvation Army is the sponsor and fiscal agency for the Ready to Learn Fair and works closely with the Anacortes School District to make sure families and students are ready to start the school year. The Fair is also supported by the generosity of many individuals, churches, service clubs and agencies in the local community.
