Gere choose City Hall to give her address…again a new venue…and will continue with a tradition started by per predecessor, Dean Maxwell, will give her address again Thursday to the Chamber of Commerce members.
In talking about community visioning, Gere said, The City must take a proactive approach to development.” She said the city must provide a pro-business atmosphere. She mentioned that the city is beginning a review of the current Comprehensive Plan. “Through the comp plan we will develop a vision that’s a shared picture of what Anacortes wants to be in the future,” Gere said.

Gere again promised an open, transparent and accessible government, citing a recent all-day meeting she recently had with the City Council which covered Council procedures and the role of governance. She said the city's new Web site, now undergoing beta testing, will be an important step providing easy access and greater visibility of upcoming events.
She touched on numerous other issues, but said economic development is the key to the future of Anacortes.
