Utility email scam circulating

Customers have notified PSE they are receiving fraudulent email bill statements indicating they were sent by San Francisco-based Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) or Dallas-based Atmos Energy—both legitimate utilities.

The emails instruct recipients to click on bogus links that will install a virus or take the user to a spam site. If you receive an email from PG&E or Atmos Energy, do not click on the link in the email or open any attachments.

Here’s what one Anacortes resident received recently.
