In brief remarks immediately afterward and with tears in her eyes, she said, “I could not have done this without every one of you in this room. Everyone one of you is part of this journey. I’m honored to be here today and I’m honored to serve Anacortes. I’m honored to have all of you in my life.“
Hoglund explained that state law allows for a swearing-in to take place up to 10 days before officially taking office, so it was decided to do the ceremony on Dec. 23.
There will be a ceremonial Oath of Office at the first City Council meeting of the year. The four new members of the City Council will, at that time, also take their Oaths of Office. The new Council members are John Archibald, Liz Lovelett, and Matt Miller.
