Pandora Aspelund writes that the deaf social will be Saturday (Oct. 26), from 1-4 pm, at the Summit Park Grange Hall. In an email to Anacortes Now, she wrote that In the past the Deaf community has had to travel to other areas such as Bellingham to enjoy socials where they could kick back and relax and not feel like the outsiders.
"Now we are pulling together our resources and making socials available here in Anacortes where our Deaf community members can help educate others on their language culture and make new friends," she wrote.
Helen Keller stated “Blindness separates people from things deafness separates people from people.”
Everyone is welcome to come and learn and help bridge the gap between the Deaf and the hearing. There will be fun games for kids and treats to eat as well!
