Mayor Maxwell states, “I appreciate the assistance of the Library Board of Trustees, Councilmember Richardson, and staff members who participated in the interview process and advised me on the final selection of Ms. Miklaski to be our new Library Director. We look forward to Ms. Miklaski’s leadership in continuing to make the library a community resource for all ages.”
Ms. Miklaski currently serves as the Assistant Director for the Georgetown, Tex. Public Library but has ties to the Pacific NW having lived on Lopez Island from 1994-2007 before returning to graduate school in Texas to earn her Master’s Degree in Library Sciences.

I look forward to supporting the skilled staff and quality services at the Anacortes Library and am eager to hear from both citizens and staff about other creative and innovative ways to expand our services.”
Ms. Miklaski will begin her assignment as on October 1. During the October 7 Council Meeting, Mayor Maxwell will ask the City Council to confirm his appointment of Ms. Miklaski as Library Director.
