Crews will remove the same alligator cracking and depressed wheel tracks starting at the State Route 20 interchange, heading south towards the Skagit River Bridge. The only real difference is that this work will be done at night.
Beginning Sunday night, July 28 until Thursday morning, Aug. 1, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will reduce I-5 down to a single lane between the SR 20 overpass and George Hopper Road. Drivers should expect minor delays on southbound I-5 between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. each night.
The pavement improvements will help rejuvenate and preserve the roadway that takes a beating from severe weather, studded snow tires, and heavy vehicle traffic.
