Next phase design work for Guemes trail

City Public Works Director Fred Buckenmeyer explained to the Council that the section of trail covered by this contract is complicated by several factors, including that some sections of the old railroad road bed have washed into the Guemes Channel and other sections are against a very steep cliff.

The design work will be done by Herrigstad Engineering.

The state legislature recently approved a $700,000 appropriation in the state’s biennial budget to fund this pivotal section of the waterfront trail.

Eventually, the Guemes Channel Trail would connect to the Tommy Thompson Trail in the downtown area.
