A new ordinance this year extends this ban to Sky Lanterns or Sky Balloons, devices that are designed to be lit and then set to float off in to the sky.
Anacortes Officers will be patrolling for and responding to fireworks complaints throughout the upcoming holiday and weekend. They will be confiscating fireworks and / or issuing criminal citations for violations of the city ordinances banning fireworks.
This is shaping up to be an especially warm and dry Fourth of July and the potential for negligent fires is high. Please comply with the city code and do not possess / transfer / discharge any type of fireworks within the city.
