Guemes Ferry to carry chip-seal supplies

Cliff Butler, Road Operations Division Manager, announced the chip sealing at the Guemes Island Community Meeting held at the Guemes Island Community Hall in the summer of 2012. The project started in February, 2013 when road crews stripped sod to re-establish the original width of the roads.

Over the next few weeks, on Monday through Thursday, road crews will be hauling oil rock on the ferry and stockpiling it at Schoolhouse Park in order to prepare for the chip sealing project. Hauling the rock now eliminates heavy truck traffic during the ferry’s peak season and is more efficient for the road crew.
