The Guemes Island Ferry is back in operation after high winds along the Guemes Channel forced it to shut down for a couple of hours Monday. Due to the weather forecast, shut-downs later today may be necessary.
The Guemes Island Ferry was temporarily shut down due to high winds and dangerous conditions. Gale force winds out of the west are predicted through tonight. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause; this is for the safety of our passengers and crew. We will let you know when the ferry is running again. If you do not have to travel today, it might be a good day to stay home. - Captain Rachel Beck, Ferry Operations Division Manager
