The Anacortes Yacht Club will be able to add a 1,500 square foot addition to their clubhouse, thanks to action taken Monday night by the City Council, which followed a site visit earlier in the evening.
The two-story addition includes a 700 square foot covered deck.
Included in the CUP application was a request to change the name of the road accessing the clubhouse to "Rotary Park Lane." The gravel road also is the access to a parking area with access to Rotary Park. The Conditional Use Permit was needed because the yacht club is in a residential zone.
The City Council's approval included the conditions recommended by the City Planning Commission, which include requiring that large evergreen trees located on the site should be retained and that root protection measures for trees in the immediate construction area shall be specified in the construction plans.
In addition, the yacht club will need to provide ADA-compliant parking spaces.
