Council: Flounder Bay dredging completed

While Flounder Bay Marina is privately owned, the city stepped in and organized the project with the help of a committee representing owners of the various boat slips in a public/private partnership.

Pacific Pile and Marine Construction won the $1.9 million contract to do the work. Their bid came in well under the $2.4 million engineering estimate and below other bids in the $4.3 million to $2.2 million range.

The city paid for dredging public areas and will be reimbursed over the next 5 years by marina property owners through the city's storm water utility fees. The work on private keys in the marina was covered by the 12 property owners in advance.
