Search and Rescue Coordinator Deputy George Ratayczak told KGMI radio that a volunteer believes he located Kloke's body in photos taken from a helicopter of the scene earlier. He said, "He appears to have not survived the fall.”
Kloke fell while climbing as part of a 5-person team on Saturday afternoon. After the fall, team members lowered someone as far as their ropes would let them and still couldn't see Kloke. The hiked out and call for help later Saturday afternoon.
The group was climbing just east of Mt. Larrabee in the area of Pleiades Peaks, just south of the Canadian border. A search was launched with volunteers from Bellingham and Skagit mountain rescue teams. The search has been hampered by poor visibility due to low clouds, rain and mist.
Kloke was a highly-experience climber and well-known in climbing circles.
