Council member Cindy Richardson said "I want to make it clear. In denying this proposal, we are not saying this property cannot be developed." She went on to say the proposal was not consistent with our law. "We're not against developing this property," she added.
The project proposed a 10-foot stream buffer, but the city requires a 50-foot buffer for the stream, named Anaco Bourn. The proposal would have moved the stream and run it through several culverts. The project met with opposition from environmental groups.
Council member Erica Pickett Monday night said "I'm glad to see the issue of the 10-foot versus 50' buffer was explored so well."
No one involved in the Hidden Shores proposal was at Monday night's meeting.
