The 2 ships are in Anacortes for a few days as part of their annual summer tour of Puget Sound. The ships pulled out of Cap Sante Marina shortly after 2pm and headed into Fidalgo Bay. A handful of people at the Cap Sante lookout spotted the ships, pulled out cameras and started taking photos.
As the ships headed further into the bay and rounded Cap Sante, the observers shifted to the east side ot the promontory. More people showed up, apparently having spotted the ships leaving while down near the marina. The ships had some sails down, but there wasn't much wind. They sat in the bay for some time as impatient onlookers watched.
Two Foss tugs were in the bay, too. A few small boats gathered to watch the ships, too.
The ships are open for tours on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Tuesday, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. A $3 donation per person is appreciated.
