Soldiers remembered on Memorial Day

About 2-dozen hearty souls braved the light showers, took the 9am Guemes ferry, and held a brief ceremony as the ferry stopped mid-channel on Memorial Day. The ceremony included a salute and the playing of Taps, followed by a prayer. Then veteran William Taylor tossed a bouquet in the Guemes Channel.

The boat completed its run and the veterans drove on to Edens Cemetary for another ceremony. Yet another Memorial Day remembrance was set for 11:30am at the Grandview Municipal Cemetry.
