Wednesday Anacortes election update

The second day of vote tallies had Maxwell leading Sonnenberg 70% to 30%, 3,017 votes to Sonnenberg's 1,293.

Yost has 51% of the vote to Hyde's 49%, with the 2 candidates just 113 votes apart.

In the contested races for Port of Anacortes Commissioners, incumbent Ray Niver, Bill Short and Keith Rubin all have solid leads.

The levy for the Fidalgo Pool & Fitness Center continues to hold a solid yes margin of 76% to 24%.

Now to throw in a couple other races: Tim Eyman's I-1033, clamping down on tax hikes, is going down to defeat in Skagit County, losing by a 55% to 45% margin. And, R-71, the everything-but-marriage issue, was being approved by a narrow 51% to 49% margin.

The next vote tally is expected Thursday evening.
