A few minutes after the forum started at City Hall, there were fewer than 50 people in the room...and that's counting the candidates.
In the photo here, League of Women Voters of Skagit County President Robin Pestarino is doing introductions. The League, the American Association of University Women and the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce co-sponsored the event.
The event started off at 5:30 with an opportunity to talk to each candidate one-on-one, but until about 6pm, it seemed like there were more candidates than members of the public. Even after the forum started, only a few more area residents showed up.
A mayor debate is scheduled for Thursday night at 7 pm at Brodniak Hall at the high school. Doors open at 6:30.
