Math teacher Jeff Holtgeerts and science teacher Victor Garcia flank tuba player Robert Dyer, who has worked to keep the AHS project on track after the graduation of Kirsten Woodsmith in 2008. Dyer flipped the switch to start the solar generator on Thursday afternoon.
The 1.1 kilowatt solar electric system is designed is to demonstrate the feasibility of and ease of generating electricity from solar energy at the high school. This project is also intended to kindle awareness of current climate change issues and reinforce the need for energy conservation.
