The city and the Arts Commission has been working with Jim Yamaguchi of the landscape firm Nakano Associates to come up with three preliminary sketches for the center of the roundabout area and the north and east medians.
The Arts Commission plans to put out a call to artists for a sculpture for the roundabout center.
The city is expecting to put the project out to bid in May and complete the roundabout by the end of this summer. Construction cost of about $715,000 will come primarily from state grants.
The city plans to have the roundabout’s landscaping done before artists are asked to submit their ideas.
