Hospital buys KLKI property

Berry sold the radio station to newcomers Jennifer and Robert Uteda, who relocated it to 32nd St and changed the call letters to KWLE. It's known as The Whale.

In exchange for the hospital's purchase, Berry eill donate $25,000 to the Island Hospital Foundation capital campaign fund.

The hospital apparently has no immediate use for the property other than to turn it into a parking lot after tearing down the building. The hospital purchased the Zap Pro Lube and Break property on 26th St. a little over a year ago for $728,000.

A study compiled by design firm NBBJ early in 2007 suggested the hospital link more to Commercial Ave. by acquiring key parcels of land between the hospital and Commercial.
