The Anacortes Chamber of Commerce is launching a new “buy local” campaign this holiday season. The new campaign, called “Buy Close By,” is an effort to show the benefit of shopping locally.
The chamber will kick off the new campaign on Nov. 29, with fun activities at local stores. And, while the campaign starts during this year’s holiday season, it will continue long after.
Resuable shopping bags with the By Close By logo will be available at the kickoff.
The program’s goal is to highlight the benefits of supporting local businesses, addressing seasonality issues during periods of low tourism, and encouraging residents to think first about the Anacortes business community before going off-island.
This campaign is the culmination of months of planning from our retail division, headed by Heather Miller (Read Me A Story) and including Zee Hogan (Maison Group), Anne Smith (Upstage), Karla Locke (That Photo Shoppe), Jean Fantini (Donatello), and Melissa White (Bayside Sweets & Treats).
