Flounder Bay Cafe, Skyline's only restaurant, has closed it’s doors to regular dining, leaving only one other restaurant open on the West end of the island. Rumors of the impending closure had been circulating for a couple of months.

Owner Kari Vanderbosch said they purchased La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib last March and since then the family decided to focus on just one restaurant, the one in La Conner. She said she and her family decided it was too hard to run two restaurants. She said her family was suffering.

Kari said "It was feast or famine" at Founder Bay with winter being very slow. The Vanderbosch family operated Flounder Bay Cafe for nearly four years.

She said they will continue to honor their banquet, catering and private party commitments through the end of this year, when the lease will expire. The restaurant closed at the end of September. The building is owned by Skyline Marina.

Charlie’s Restaurant, down near the Washington State Ferries ferry landing, is the last restaurant on the West end.  Billy Ray’s, also near the ferry landing, closed several years ago.
