Fidalgo Medical Associates, long located immediately adjacent to Island Hospital, is being purchased by the Hospital. The private medical clinic includes ten physicians and three advanced registered nurse practitioners.
The Hospital says it will purchase the clinic’s assets and the clinic’s staff will sign employment contracts to become part of the hospital.
Hospital CEO Vince Oliver said “This affiliation allows us to work together to recruit and retain physicians to care for our community residents.” The clinic and the hospital both hope the change will help improve physician recruitment and retention at the clinic.
Island Hospital is operated by Skagit Public Hospital District 2. Hospital district commissioners authorized the purchase at it’s August 21 meeting. The hospital and the clinic are negotiating a price tag, but the hospital hopes to finalize the purchase by the end of this month.
Fidalgo Medical Associates began operating in 1972. It joins Anacortes Family Medicine, Lopez Island Medical Clinic under the Island Hospital umbrella.
