Walter E. Vonnegut honored

Vonnegut, now 86 years old, directed the first production at ACT, The Grammercy Ghost, in 1964, just after AT was founded. That first production was at Fidalgo Elementary School. Vonnegut has either directed or acted in at least one production every year since then. Most recently he directed The Drawer Boy, which he said would be the last play he directs.

Anacortes Community Theatre moved to it's current location, across from the library, in 1974 after purchasing the building from a church. ACT has produced over 200 productions since it was formed.
