This Friday’s show at Cap Sante Marina features a Seattle woman who blazed the trail for women in Rock and Roll and now plays the Blues with her band, The Formerlys.
Alice Stuart was one of the only females in the country to write her own music, front a male band, and play lead guitar on national and international circuits during the 1970s.
Blues Hall of Fame inductee Dick Waterman once remarked, "There would be no Bonnie Raitt without Alice Stuart." According to Taj Mahal, "Alice cut the road that Bonnie traveled."
Alice has won The Washington Blues Society's BB Award for best Solo/Duo act of 2008 and will again be traveling to Memphis for the 2009 International Blues Challenge, this time representing the Washington Blues Society.
