Bark in the Park

Dozens of dogs took their owners to Storvik Park today for the fourth annual Bark in the Park. These dogs and their owner competed in the Best Costume contest.

Other contests included best tail wagging, barking or howling, best dogtrick, peanut butter eating.  Other events included Other event included a dog parade, dog demos, dog games, food and vendorbooths.

FIDO, or Fidalgo Islanders for Dogs Off-leash, hosts the festival and hasbeen working with the city and the island’s Rotary clubs in developing an off-leash park on H Avenue between 32nd and 41st streets.

City Parks Director Gary Robinson said the department is justwaiting for the ground to dry out to send in volunteers to finish thegrade work. Next will be the building of the fence around the dog areaand gravel parking lot. Work will then start on the plantings aroundthe park and the ball field.
