Arts & Leisure

Art galleries in the downtown area are open from 6-8 pm this Friday. Here's a list.

402 Commercial Ave, ONE Real Estate

ONE Real Estate presents featured artists Terry MacDonald and Leslie Dorn. TERRY’S loose expressive style combines with bright, vivid colors to create what many describe as “joyful art.”  Through multi-layered acrylic and mixed media abstracts she strives to convey upbeat and positive images through exuberant brush work, marks and vibrating color. LESLIE is an award winning photographer. Much of her work has a nautical theme (boating, regattas, docks, piers) as well as travel, portrait and special event photography. Snacks provided.

404 Commercial Ave, MoonWater Arts (formerly Joanie Schwartz Glass)

MoonWater Arts is a working teaching studio where the art of glass fusing is made and taught. Come by and see the multitude of techniques that this creative art offers for both the novice and experienced. The store offers a wide variety of other hand created work from artists here in the PNW and around the country, most of whom are women. You’ll find nothing imported.

419 Commercial Ave., The Majestic Inn and Spa

The Majestic’s artist September is Anacortes photographer, Mark Gardener. Mark uses both the camera and the darkroom to make personally expressive images that celebrate nature, people and culture.  The work shown in this exhibition comes mostly from exploring the Anacortes Community Forest Lands (ACFL) in particular, and the natural world in general.

420 Commercial Ave., Scott Milo Gallery

The gallery features the 98221 Art Show with oil pastels by Kathleen Faulkner, oils by Keith Sorenson, oils by Dederick Ward, oils and acrylics by Kylie Fair Anderson and special guest glass artists from Edmonds, Joel and Lori Soderberg with their fused glass wall pieces. Also offering new jewelry for the fall season.

1010 5th Street, The Studios Above Scott Milo Gallery

Four studios above Scott Milo Gallery are open and include work by Anders Rodin, Jade Roberts, Cathy Schoenberg, Michael Clough and Elizabeth Ockwell.  Climb the stairs and see exciting oils, watercolors and drawings and sculptures.

705 Commercial Ave., Trinity Skate

We are excited to showcase featured artist of the month, Betty Connor. Her paintings bring the joy of colors, shapes, and movement that can express life’s stories. Food and beverage available.
