Karl Blau has been making music in Anacortes ever since he cut a 7” single, a cover of the 1969 Tom T. Hall hit “That’s How I Got to Memphis” back in 1997. Now his new album, “Introducing Karl Blau,” is garnering interest across the country, including on National Public Radio.

On “Introducing Karl Blau” the Anacortes vocalist charts a new vision of country music. A Northwest indie hero, Blau channels darkness and hope in a cinematic collection of Nashville country hits from the 60’s and 70’s.

With his album “Introducing Karl Blau” now out on the Bella Union label, Karl Blau has unveiled a dreamlike video for current single “Fallin’ Rain”. Filmed in Old Town San Diego and at NBA announcer and Hall of Famer Bill Walton’s back yard and teepee, the video features indie cult legend Kyle Field (Little Wings) as the new age shaman.

Blau, who has a European tour set for this fall, was recently featured on NPR’s World Care and the cover “That’s How I Got to Memphis,” is now featured on NPR’s “Songs We Love” list.
