A free two-day exhibit titled: "History of Commercial Fishing in Anacortes and Puget Sound" is scheduled Saturday and Sunday at the Eagles Hall, 901 7th Street in downtown Anacortes.
Organizer of the event, a benefit for the Eagles, is local collector/historian Eric Tietjen, a 1967 AHS alum. Tietjen's most prominent display is part of the annual Anacortes Work Boats & Pirate Faire.
Tietjen's exhibit features a fascinating collection of photographs, salmon canning labels, newspaper clippings and miscellaneous maritime artifacts, including a Chinese opium pipe and a notary seal from the Puget Fisheries Cannery.
The exhibit is open Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
