Arts & Leisure

The Anacortes Arts Festival announced the results of its 2015 “Giving Back” Grant Program. With over $100,000 in requests, the board approved approximately $40,000 in worthy projects. The goal was to support requests with good community impact, with an emphasis on youth and education. Through its April events, the board has committed additional funding for the Anacortes School District Cultural Arts Program and several public art projects.

2015 "Giving Back" grants include:

  • Anacortes Boys & Girls Club - Fine Art Program - $3,500
  • Anacortes Community & Youth Arts - Repurposed Art Workshop - $1,000
  • Anacortes Family Center - Children's Art-Therapy Class - $2,000
  • Anacortes Farmer's Market - Farmer's Market Music Project - $1,750
  • Anacortes High School 2D Art - Classroom Art Tables - $600
  • Anacortes High School 3D Art - Classroom Clay Recycling Machine - $1,636
  • Anacortes High School Film Department - Screenwriting Class - $2,000
  • Anacortes High School Film Program - National Youth Film Festival attendance - $1,500
  • Anacortes Middle & High School Choirs - WWU Men's Chorus Festival attendance - $600
  • Anacortes Middle & High School Choirs - Frank DeMeiro Jazz Festival attendance - $1,600
  • Fidalgo Elementary School - Classroom Clay Slab Roller - $845
  • Mt Erie Elementary School - Music Program Enhancement - $323
  • Mt Erie Elementary School - Mustang Circus School - $720
  • Fidalgo Danceworks - The Nutcracker Program - $3,000
  • Fidalgo Island Quilters - Youth Quilting Program - $2,000
