2014 Arts Festival awards

Best of Show - $3,000

  • Anacortes artist Dederick Ward received the top Festival fine art award at the Arts at the Port Opening July 26th. Juror Patricia Watkinson presented the Best of Show $3,000 award.
  • People's Choice Award - $1,000Graham Schodda from Bellingham was presented the People's Choice Award, sponsored by Peoples Bank, at the conclusion of the Arts at the Port exhibition on August 3rd.

2 Excellence Awards - $1,000 each

  • James Lapp of Mount Vernon
  • Theodora Johnson of La Conner 

2 Advocate Awards - $500 each

  • Christine Gedye of Seattle recieved the Don de Llamas Advocate Award.
  • Patty Haller from Seattle, left, received the Nancy Vogel Advocate Award. Nancy presented the award. 

T Bailey Corporate Award - $500

  • Dederick Ward from Anacortes was chosen by Ruby Tanaka to receive the $500 T-Bailey Corporate Award.

Anacortes Collects - $4,000

The City of Anacortes is this year's Anacortes Collects partner to purchase artwork for public areas. Mayer Laurie Gere and Joann Stewart chose the two pieces below.

  • "Padilla Bay" by Alissa Durling from Anacortes
  • "Madronas and Firs" by Keith Sorenson from Anacortes

Booth Artisan Awards for 2014

Festival Awards totaling $3,600 honor outstanding quality, originality and display of Festival booth artisans The Best of the Fest Award recognizes one artist with overall excellence. The Creativity Award is based on originality of work. Festival Chamber Awards single out six artists who excel at both quality of work and salesmanship. Thanks to Best of the Fest sponsor Wells Fargo Bank. 

Wells Fargo - $2,000 Best of the Fest

  • Mary Beier from Phoenix, Ariz. has aluminum sheet metal, with etch/grind in the design and painted with layers of dyes. (Booth #803W)

 $1,000 Creativity Award

  • Chris Efstratis of Natural Fire from Sacramento, Calif. has large, colorful, figurative ceramic sculptures, hand painted and glaze fired to cone 5 oxidation. (Booth #718W)

The Anacortes Chamber of Commerce sponsored six $100 Partnership awards, choosing Booth Artisans for quality, presentation and friendliness of the artist. Awards were presented:

  • Gina McCauley of Snooter-doots (Booth #520W) from Seattle

  • Chris Sienkiewich-Peterson & Ron Peterson of The Place to Bee… Chris’s Country Essence (Booth #706W) from Tacoma
  • John Wehman of Laughing Creek Productions (Booth #517E) from Seattle
