Sunset Beach naturalist program set

The community is invited to a Beach Naturalist program at Washington Park in Anacortes on Sunday at 1pm.

Skagit MRC Beach Naturalists will share some of their favorite wonders of the animals and plants that live among the rocks at Sunset Beach. If you have ever wondered how a barnacle grows or what the snails and mussels eat or how to find a chiton – this is your chance to learn that and more. Many Sunset Beach visitors don’t even know that there are over a hundred different species of animals in the intertidal zone there and what is more fascinating is how they manage to survive.

The Beach Naturalists are trained volunteers with the Skagit Marine Resources Committee Beach Naturalist program – new this year, and have teamed up with the Anacortes Parks / Washington Park to provide interpretation to visitors at Sunset Beach during some of the summer low tide days.

The presentation on July 13th will be a 45-minute informal family-friendly program at the tables by the boat launch. No reservations are needed and the program is free. Just bring your interest, questions and curiosity.
