Aché Brasil An Explosion of Color, Energy and Music!

Combining Capoeira, Maculele (martial arts), Samba, with traditional and contemporary instruments, they have played to enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim all over North America.  Aché Brasil was recently nominated for “Live Performers of the Year” at the West Coast Music Awards.  They hail from Vancouver, BC.

Afro-Brazilian dance movements used by Ache’ originated during the introduction of African slaves into the South American culture in the 16 – 19th centuries. They are narrative social dances that incorporate martial arts and instruments including sticks, gourds, and drums.

Aché Brasil specializes in the performance of popular and traditional Afro-Brazilian music, dance and rhythms.  Amazing acrobatic feats and dances all done to a combination of Brazil’s most infectious rhythms, featuring a fabulous back-up band comprised of some of Brazil and Canada’s finest musicians. While Aché Brasil’s music is rooted in the more traditional forms of Brazilian rhythms:  Samba, Maracatu, Coco de Roda, Capoeira; it also reflects the influences of Brazilian and North American pop.  These influences have created something new, Aché Brasil’s own contribution to the evolution of Brazilian music.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for 18 and under, available through brownpapertickets.com (800-838-3006) or at the door.  This performance is made possible by grants from WESTAF and the NEA and is in partnership with the Anacortes School District.
