Anthony’s Restaurant won’t open at the Cap Sante Marina this summer, as originally planned. The chain still hasn’t started construction and they now say the restaurant will open sometime in October.

In an unprecendented meeting together, the City Council, the Port Commissioners and Chamber of Commerce members agreed that the Anacortes Futures Project, designed to create a strategic economic development plan for the city, needs to move ahead.

The City Council went on record Monday night opposing a proposed increase in the hazardous substance tax, saying the tax hike would cost businesses and consumers in Washington about $224 million per year.

A 28-year-old Guemes Island man was cited for indecent exposure after an officer saw him pull his pants down and expose his bare buttocks to another pedestrian in the 400 block of Commercial Ave.  

When Dean Allen was alive, you could frequently find him with a mischievous smile at this spot at the end of Fifth St. in the Cap Sante neighborhood. After he died last December, his friends got together and paid for two benches to honor him.

The Community Garden will become at least partially wheelchair accessible, thanks to some changes being made soon in one corner of the garden. Some changes will be made in the area shown in grey above. Also added will be accessible parking.
