The Anacortes Police are looking for a 20 year old man they call a scam artist who, they say, has been taking advantage of the good graces and compassion of Anacortes residents in the past few weeks.

More than 60 students gather daily in rehearsal, singing, dancing and playing music in preparation for the biggest musical production in Anacortes High School history.

The popular Anacortes-based group The Lonely Forest has signed what looks like a major record contract with a unit of Warner Music Group. The Lonely Forest will perform in a fund-raising concert for the Trestle fund on March 26.

Residents of the Skyline area reported 35 separate vehicle prowls that were believed to have occurred between Tuesday (Feb. 23) night and Wednesday morning. All of the prowls were from unlocked vehicles and several cars were found with their doors and glove boxes left open after being prowled. 

The America's Cup trophy, shown here during a reception in San Diego earlier this week, will be brought to Anacortes for a visit, probably in early April, according to Mayor Dean Maxwell. The winning boat, build here by BMW Oracle Racing, won the cup in races off Valencia, Spain earlier this month.

Due to low water flow conditions in the Skagit River, the city of Anacortes and Skagit PUD water customers are being asked to voluntarily reduce their water usage at this time by 10 percent.
