In what looks like a holiday season prank, a resident of the 4200 block of Marine Heights reported an extra reindeer appeared in his lighted holiday herd overnight.

In a daring daytime burglary, a man kicked in the door of an occupied home in the 800 block of 32nd Street at about 9:45 Thursday morning. He stole two sets of keys and a $50.00 bill before fleeing on foot.

An employee of McBride's Hallmark shop handles one of the last customers before the shop's closing at 6pm on the day after Christmas. Rhonda Kelly is one of a half-dozen employees who will be looking for work soon, once the store's inventory is packed up and shipped out.

On Saturday, January 12, 2013 the Anacortes High School Key Club, The Kiwanis Sunrisers and the Kiwanis Noon Club will be picking up Christmas trees for recycling beginning at 8:30 AM within the Anacortes City limits.

Chief Bowers does not routinely work street patrol, but on one afternoon last week, the Chief spotted a woman with an arrest warrant in an alley behind a home on 4th Street. She contacted the woman and took her in to custody as other other officers responded to the area.
